FIRST EVER ART SHOW FEATURING CATS & GUITARS OPENS AT CHARTREUSE GALLERY IN PHOENIX JANUARY 1

December 23, 2015 (Phoenix, AZ) The Cats & Guitars art show will open at Chartreuse Gallery in downtown Phoenix, AZ on January 1, 2016 and run throughout the month. This is the first ever art exhibit to focus exclusively on works featuring cats and guitars.

More than 30 artists have been chosen to participate in the exhibit. About half of the artists are from Arizona joined by others from across the United States and around the world, including Canada, the United Kingdom, Japan and Norway.

“This exhibit will be a fun way to kick off 2016 with art that’s light and enjoyable,” says show producer, Kate Benjamin, founder of the popular cat style website hauspanther.com. The exhibit will include a wide variety of styles and media, with one uniting theme — every piece includes a reference to a cat and a guitar or other stringed instrument.

Cats & Guitars is meant to be a celebration of the connection between cats and the art of luthiery, which is the construction and repair of stringed instruments, as taught just down the street at Roberto-Venn School of Luthiery,” adds Benjamin.

The show will open on First Friday, January 1 from 6 to 10 pm, and an artist reception will be held on Third Friday, January 15 from 6 to 10 pm. Additional gallery hours: Saturday, Jan 2, noon to 4 pm; Friday, Jan 8, 6-9pm; Saturday, Jan 16, noon to 4 pm; Friday, Jan 22, 6-9pm; Friday, Jan 29, 6-9 pm.

There will be a free screening of The Paw Project, a documentary about the anti-declawing movement, in the gallery on Thursday, January 14 from 7 to 9 pm.
